Course Overview

In this course, you will learn the spelling differences between American and British English, in particular in academic writing. Other differences such as those in pronunciation are beyond the scope of this course.

This course focusses more on the differences between American English and British English even though other variants are also prevalent, such as Canadian English and Australian/New Zealand English. You will also learn how all these other variants are simply a mix and match of the styles prevalent in American and British English.

The course is divided into three lessons. The first lesson is preparatory in nature and contains a background to how the English language evolved. The second lesson is all about the variations. The third, final lesson is comprised on passage editing assignments.
